STEM Education is not only gaining momentum worldwide. In Hong Kong, more and more attention is being directed to technology-related education at a relatively early stage of school. However, many families and schools currently lack a reliable source of quality education tools that ties in with the school curriculum. Green Orange attempts to focus on this need of the modern society, leveraging on its established skills in software and its application in the field of education.
We believe that STEM education is most effective when the process evolves into a "positive feedback loop" as we term it, that is, students learn by actually "producing" something and by doing so, problem-solving skills will develop, theories will be sought after proactively, skills will improve down the path, and finally design blueprints will be re-thought and re-iterated, thus closing the loop towards better and better "products". Such a "loop" represents essential elements and logics that benefit a wide range of life and career pursuits of students' as they continue to grow up and participate in the society, and this is not limited to applications in the engineering or technology-related arenas.
In short, Learning by Doing incorporates and integrates multiple disciplines including reading, writing, mathematics, critical thinking, team-building, and technical problem-solving. STEM projects that emphasize hands-on activities with technology integrate learning in ways that connect disciplines and relate them to each other.
